About Bangholme

Bangholme is one of the suburbs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is situated on the former Carrum Swamp, between Keysborough and Chelsea Heights, 30 km south-east of Melbourne.

Bangholme is a semi-rural area that is a part of Melbourne`s South East Green Wedge. The Melbourne Water Eastern Sewage Treatment Plan uses a large portion of the land there.

History of Bangholme

The Eumemmerring Creek waterhole east of the current Bangholme, where Joseph Hawdon pastured livestock in 1837, is where the name of the place derives from. The term Parnham, an Aboriginal word considered to mean hut, was used to generate the name of the waterhole. Additionally, it had other pronunciations, including Baungan.

On land granted by a prominent member of the Keys family from Keysborough, a school was established in east Bangholme in 1915. A hall and a Methodist church were inaugurated in 1931 and 1935, respectively.

Tourist Attractions in Bangholme

The great seaside location of the boutique vineyard and winery at The Craft & Co Farm in Bangholme is what makes it unique. In this 16 hectare vineyard and thriving winery, hops for brewing and botanicals for distilling are also grown. Tourists can spend time at one of the outside tables and enjoy the view, or get a picnic basket packed with delectable treats to enjoy on the site.

Wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and waterskiing are available at Melbourne Cable Park, one of Melbourne`s newest outdoor entertainment areas. Visitors may bounce, slide, and splash their way across bridges, down slides, onto trampolines, and around hamster wheels at an aqua fun park that has inflatable obstacles on the surface.
