About Chelsea

Chelsea is a coastal suburb 30 kilometers southeast of Melbourne's cbd. It is located within the jurisdiction of the City of Kingston local government district, about midway between Mordialloc and Carrum.

In the Chelsea, between the ocean and Point Nepean Road, there is a lengthy beach that is overlooked by several homes.

History of Chelsea

The suburb's name seems to have been introduced along with the station's construction. The name Chelsea was chosen for the station by Tommy Bent, the minister of railways, after Bertha Black, a pioneer farmer, suggested it be done in honor of her mother's birthplace in Chelsea, England. Chelsea was thought to be a shelly Thames beach.

Chelsea city was merged with parts of Mordialloc, Oakleigh, Moorabbin, and Springvale cities to form Kingston city in 1994.

Tourist Attractions in Chelsea

During the summer, Chelsea is a popular destination for beachgoers. Bicentennial Park is also well-liked and has just undergone renovations with new play structures and barbecues, most notably the Mount Chelsea adventure playground.

A terrific location for families, a clean, safe atmosphere for kids to explore, and a safe, gated playground for toddlers are all provided by the Ultimate Family Fun Center, an indoor play center.

Sand castles and a lighthouse are part of the seaside playground in Victoria Park, which is located next to the beach. There are several shelters here that are great for kids' parties and have amenities including tables, chairs, water fountains, barbecues, and restrooms.

Schools and Sports in Chelsea

Many educational facilities, including Chelsea Primary School, St. Joseph's School, Glen Education Chelsea Kindergarten, and Chelsea Heights Primary School, are situated in Chelsea.

The Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League features a team from Chelsea that plays Australian Rules football. Leigh Matthews, a legend in the Australian Football League, began his football career at Chelsea.
