Clarinda is a residential suburb next to Clayton South that is 17 km southeast of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is a part of the City of Kingston local government area.
Clarinda as a multicultural suburb is home to populations from the Philippines, India, Greece, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Originally, Clarinda was a coastal heathland. It was occupied by John O`Shannessy in the early 1840s, and he obtained a squatting permit to occupy a 40,000-acre lot of land that was located near the current suburbs of Clarinda, Clayton South, Dingley, and Heatherton.
Bald Hills was the original name of the suburb. As there were other locations with the same name, it was eventually changed to Bayview, and later, it was finally changed to Clarinda.
Clarinda has parks, coffee shops, and a great market. One of the parks, Bald Hill Park, is a lovely spot for a picnic with the family. There are four additional little playgrounds in the Clarinda, located at Hendon Court, Sundownder Avenue, Leonard Close, and Dalbeattie Drive.
The Clarinda Shopping Centre on Bourke Road is the most well-known location for shopping. A regular Clarinda Arts and Crafts Market also sells artwork, crafts, plants, jewelry, and other items.
Additionally, tourists should try the Clarinda Fish & Chippery at Shop 9 and the Montibella Pizza at Shop 11, both of which are located at 67 Bourke Road in Clarinda.
Clarinda offers excellent education. Clarinda Primary School, St. Andrew`s Catholic Primary School, or Heatherton Christian College are options for residents to enroll their children to school.
Clarinda has Clarinda Tennis Club that is located at 4-14 Crawford Road. The Caufield & District Netball Association, Oakleigh Recreation Center, and Glen Eira Sports And Aquatic Centre are nearby sports facilities.
