About Doveton

Doveton, a Dandenong suburb, lies 32 kilometers south-east of central Melbourne. It is situated just east of Dandenong Creek and north of the Princes Highway and is governed by Casey City Council which is previously a Berwick City Council.

History of Doveton

Doveton, which was first a part of the Eumemmerring pastoral range in the 1830s, got its name from a well-known early resident named Captain John Doveton, who stayed there until about 1903.

Doveton was founded in the middle of the 1950s after the State Homes Commission bought a sizable piece of property to build cheap housing for workers at the nearby new companies.

Doveton was converted into a public housing estate to accommodate the post-war population growth brought on by a wave of refugees from war-torn nations and an industrial development in Dandenong.

Myuna Farm is a prominent Doveton destination. Visitors can engage with farm animals at this interactive farm. Children can ride the farm's railway to reach the outlying areas.

The most notable inhabitants of the wetlands are a colony of Flying Fox bats, which may be found in the trees around the Myuna Wetlands.

Doveton also has some notable churches. These include the Church of All Nations, The Shed, St Matthews Anglican Endeavour Hills, Doveton Mosque, Miracle Christian Center, and the Doveton Baptist Church.
