About Mulgrave

Mulgrave is a residential suburb that is situated between Glen Waverley and Wheelers Hill, 24 kilometers southeast of Melbourne`s CBD.

The western bounds of Mulgrave extend from Clayton to the Dandenong Creek, while the northern and southern boundaries extend from Wellington Road and the Monash Freeway to Police Road.

History of Mulgrave

On January 19, 1857, the Oakleigh & Mulgrave Road District was established in the same area as the parishes of Mulgrave and Oakleigh.

The road district was given the new name Shire of Oakleigh on December 1st, 1871, and was reclassified as a shire.

A portion of Oakleigh Shire was removed on March 13, 1891, and a new municipality known as the Borough of Oakleigh was founded. Mulgrave Shire was given its current name in 1897.
