About Springvale South

Springvale South is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, about 24 kilometers south-east of Melbourne`s Central Business District and within the City of Greater Dandenong local government area.

History of Springvale South

Springvale South, which lies between Springvale and Keysborough, was subdivided for housing in the 1960s and 1970s.

Due to the sandy soil, large-scale poultry farms could have been located in Springvale South, but as Springvale`s population rose, most farms were forced to relocate farther into the sandbelt. The population pressure from Springvale and Noble Park prompted the establishment of Heatherhill Primary School on Heatherton Road in 1958.

Springvale South`s Anglo-Celtic population has been heavily influenced by Indo-Chinese immigrants from the early 1990s.

Tourist Attractions in Springvale South

Springvale South features a plethora of shopping and dining options concentrated in two main districts along the town`s main road, Springvale Road. Right in the middle of the city is the wet market. Both tourists and locals will love browsing the fresh fruit and interesting cuisine items available at these markets.

Springvale South also features Burden Park, a lovely neighborhood park with a variety of activities for children and families, including playgrounds, sand areas, and plenty of green space. It`s most famous for its numerous castle buildings, which you may climb or hide and seek in.

Local racetracks including Sandown International Motor Raceway, Sandown Greyhound Racing Club, and Ladbrokes Park are popular with locals and tourists looking for excitement. At one of these venues, you can choose to watch cars, greyhounds, or horses competition.

Schools and Sports in Springvale South

Around Springvale South, there are numerous educational institutions, including Keysborough College, Spring Parks Primary School-Valley Campus, and Spring Parks Primary School.
